Lucca Comics and Games 2014

Una settimana fa stavo camminando per le strade di Lucca, circondata da quattrocentomila persone. Altri cosplayer, fan, visitatori e curiosi.

Camminare per questa città, di origine romana e solitamente “vuota”, durante la manifestazione era praticamente impossibile a causa della ressa.

Così ho speso il mio primo giorno, venerdì, in viaggio e, arrivata all'ora di pranzo, ho scattato qualche foto. Non tante, perché non sono stata abbastanza veloce da documentare tutto quello che vedevo.
Ma ho promesso ai cosplayer che ho fotografato di condividere le foto in modo che potessero averle. Mi sembrava doveroso (già che è difficile reperirle).
Li riconoscete tutti?
A week ago I was walking through the streets of Lucca, surrounded by four hundred thousand of people. Other Cosplayers, fans, visitors and curious people.
Walking in this city, of Roman's origin and usually “empty”, during the manifestation is quite impossible because of the crowd.

So I spent my first day, Friday, travelling and, arrived at noon, I took some pictures. Not so much because I was not fast enough to record everything I saw.

But I promise to the cosplayers I photographed to share the pictures so they could have them too. I thought it was fair because it is so difficult to find some picture, after.

Onestamente non so chi impersonasse... ma era così bella! Non importa sei sei un personaggio o semplicemente creativo. Qui puoi essere chi vuoi!
Honestly I don't know how she was... but she was so beautiful! It doesn't matter it you are a character or if you are simply creative. Here you can be however you want!

Mi sono incontrata con un'amica nel Japan Palace (parte della fiera dedicata unicamente al mondo nipponico).. e ne ho approfittato per fare del sano spionaggio industriale. *--* quanta bella roba. Questi eventi sono deleteri per il portafoglio!
I caught up with a friend in the Japan Palace (a part of the exhibition dedicated only to the Japanese world)... and I took the opportunity to make healthy industrial espionage. * - * How much good stuff. These events are detrimental to your wallet!

Quindi, il secondo giorno mi sono ficcata nel mio costumino di Rogue e ho aspettato il mio gruppo. Nel mentre ho fatto qualche foto con altri cosplayers che hanno riconosciuto il mio personaggio e mi hanno chiesto una foto. Ero così sorpresa perché... voglio dire... Boba Fett e Jack Sparrow sono abbastanza famosi e scommetto che chiunque li veda li fermi per fare una foto. Quindi dovrebbero essere parecchio stanchi di far foto... ma no, non lo erano.
Then, the second day I put on my Rogue's costume and wait to meet my group. In the while I had some picture with other cosplayers that recognized my character and ask me for a picture. I was so surprise because... I mean... Boba Fett and Jack Sparrow are quite popular and I guess that everybody stops them for this. So they could be quite annoyed to have picture.. but not, they weren't.

Con Quicksilver, direttamente dall'ultimo film Fox (quello da me tanto amato).
Questa è l'unica foto in cui si vede il mio costume per intero. Molte cosplayer di Rogue fanno la manica tutta verde ma questa è quella giusta (ricordate che sono una filologa e amo la precisione e la fedeltà agli originali?)

This is the only picture in which you can see my entire costume. A lot of Rogue cosplayer made the sleeves total green but this is the right one (do you remember I'm a Philologist and I love precision and loyalty to the originals?)

Onestamente, la parte più difficile è stata la linea tra la parte gialla e quella verde. Ho fatto diverse prove per trovare quella giusta. Ma al posto del manichino disegnando direttamente sul mio corpo, con la tecnica del moulage. Mi son fatta aiutare (dietro e nella scelta) da metà famiglia, con conseguenti maledizioni e rimproveri.
Honestly the hardest part was the line between the yellow and the green part of the suit. I had several attempt to find the right one. And,  instead of the manequin, I draw straight on my body, by the moulage technique. My family help me (drawing on my back and in the choice) with consequent curses and reprimand.

Forse perché era la mia prima volta ben con un cosplay davvero ben studiato e fatto e in cui partecipavo attivamente ma anche se ero stanca e i piedi urlavano di dolore (ho sbagliato qualcosa con gli stivali: sono semplici scarpe coperte con due strati di pelle -tomaia e fodera-, il tutto incollato con litri di mastice che probabilmente li ha reso rigida la struttura...troppo rigida), ero felicissima di posare per foto con i fan.
Soprattutti quelli che tremavano per l'emozione sotto l'abbraccio di rito. Voglio dire... Ragazzi! Ragazze! Sono solo una come voi (e anch'io ero eccitata dal far le foto con alcuni personaggi). Ho solo avuto il coraggio (e la sfacciataggine) di indossare i panni del mio personaggio preferito. Non sono IL personaggio. Sfortunatamente.
Maybe is because this is my first really well done and studied costume/participation but, even I was tired and my feet were screaming for the pain (I made something wrong with the boots: they are simply shoes cover with two layers of leather -upper and linen- and attached to them with the glue that probably make them rigid...too rigid), I was delighted to pose for pictures for fans. Especially the ones that quivered and crumbled under your embrace for the emotion. I mean... Guys! Girls! I'm just like you (and I was excited too to have pictures with some characters). I just have the bravery (or the audacity) to wear the shoes/boots of my favourite character. I'm NOT the character. Unluckily.

Mmmmm col suo potere di assorbire tutto dalle altre persone forse dovrei dire di essere fortunata a non essere lei.
Ma non importa. Il mio cosplay è stato così apprezzato (e onestamente, non sono soddisfatta perché gli stivali non sono lunghi come gli originali e la mia frangia bianca era ancora troppo lunga anche se l'avevo tagliata un sacco) che lo staff di American Garage mi ha chiesto di posare con le loro auto: KITT da Super Car (la serie originale degli anni 80), Herbie (Il Maggiolino tutto matto), la De Lorean di Ritorno al Futuro e la Camaro della Chevrolet di Transformers. Il giorno dopo ho fatto la foto anche con un ragazzo che faceva il cosplay di Bumblebee in versione robot.
Mmmm with her power to absorb everything from other people maybe I have to think that I'm lucky to not be her.

But it doesn't matter. My cosplay was so appreciate (and, honestly, I'm not satisfied because the boots are not long as the original ones and my white bang was still to much even if I cut it really a lot) that the American Garage's team, ask me for a set of pictures with its cars: KITT from the Knight Riders (the original serie of the '80s), Herbie (The Love Bug), the DeLorean from Back to the Future and the Chevrolet 's Camaro from Transformers. The day after I took another picture with a guy who was cosplaying Bumblebee in the robot version.

Mi sono divertita così tanto che sto già lavorando su altri due nuovi costumi (uno per ancora Lucca  e uno per altri eventi minori nel mezzo). E sto pensando di far diventare la mia conoscenza della moda e l'abilità nell produzione combinata con la mia grande passione per fumetti, manga etc in un vero lavoro. Ma penso sarebbe troppo costoso.
Ho chiesto ad alcune sarte di mia conoscenza quanto avrebbero chiesto per cucire l'intero costume: la cintura, gli stivali, i guanti, la tuta e la giacca. Con o senza fodera, gli stivali fatti come scarpe nuove o attaccate su altre preesistenti (come ho fatto io perché sì so progettare e assemblare ma per il tacco servono macchinari speciali che non ho. E volevo evitare di ammazzarmi cadendo dalle scarpe).. nulla di tutto ciò avrebbe cambiato il risultato. Il prezzo che mi avrebbero chiesto sarebbe stato lo stesso: duemila euro solo di fattura. Ho speso come minimo duecento euro di pelle, lycra, zip, automatici, fibbie e così via (oltre allo studio dei materiali e della giusta forma). Quindi alla fine avrei risparmiato ben poco usando ecopelle e non foderando.
Così costoso!! Ma la soddisfazione è stata molto maggiore! :) Non mi importa! Risparmiero soldi e tempo per crearmi un nuoco costume. Amo troppo questo mondo da cui mi sono tenuta lontano per troppo tempo (solo perché non avevo amici che amassero i fumetti e la cultura pop. Almeno, non abbastanza da accompagnarmi tutti bardati...sciocchi!)
I enjoyed so much to cosplay that I'm already working on other two new costumes (one for Lucca again and another one for other smaller events in the middle). And thinking to made this my knowledge of fashion and ability in the production combined with my old passion for comics and manga a real work. But I think it would be too expensive.

I asked to some dressmakers I know how much they would have asked for sewing the entire costume: the boots, the belt, the gloves, the suit and the jacket. With or without lining, boots made as new shoes or attached on pre-existed ones (as I did because I know how to project and how to assemble but for the heel you need a special machine that I don't have. And I wanted to avoid the risk to kill my self falling from my shoes)...nothing of this change anything. The price they would have asked to me for it it would be the same: two thousand Euros only for the production. I spent at least two hundred Euros of leather, spandex, zips, bottons, clasps and so on (aside the study of the material and of the right shape). So, at the end, I would have saved few money using faux leather and not using the linen...
So expensive!! But the satisfaction was much bigger. :) I don't care! I would save money and time to create a new costume any year. I love too much this world from which I stayed away too much time (just because I had no friend who loved comics and pop culture. At least... who don't love enough them to masquerade them self... Fools!)

La prossima settimana posterò le foto di una mia amica (se mi arrivano per tempo). Perché, ancora una volta, è fastidioso posare così tante volte e raccimolare poi così poche foto. Se posso, aiuto gli altri cosplayer. ;)
