Oggi e domani saranno giorni impegnativi (devo stare in seggio elettorale) e avrò poco tempo per scrivere/controllare il mio post settimanale. 
[PS: non saranno ma sarà: tra una cosa e l'altra, uno è andato! Mi dispiace!]
Dunque. Vi parlerò di Capitan Harlock, il film. L'ho visto solo quando ero in Irlanda perché in Italia, nei cinema della zona, proponevano solo la versione 3D. Onestamente non amo i film 3D: non aggiungono nulla ai classici 2D, la computer grafica mi appare piatta quando giustapposta a oggetti reali e, più in generale, il 3D lascia una fastidiosa traccia del movimento sullo schermo. Più o meno lo stesso che accade con certi monitor LCD. Ma devo confessare che, forse, è colpa mia perché vedo immediatamente la computer grafica anche nel più moderno dei film 2D. Un motivo per cui preferisco i vecchi film anni '80 dove gli sfondi, le astronavi etc erano dipinti o modellini.
Erano palesemente irreali e io li accettavo più facilmente. Ma mi succede lo stesso anche con trucco e parrucco: quelli “naturali” mi disturbano più dei colori sfacciatamente sgargianti.

Beh... Non è un comportamento così strano.
Psicologi e ingegneri robotici conoscono molto bene il problema, l'affrontano con il test di Turing e hanno sviluppato la teoria della Zona Perturbante.

So, I'm going to talk about Space Pirate Captain Harlock, the movie. I saw it only when I was in Ireland because in Italy, the cinemas in the surroundings my town, only proposed it in 3D version. Honestly I don't like 3D movies: they don't add anything to the classical 2D ones, CGI objects appear flat when a real one is juxtaposed and, generally speaking, 3D leave an annoying movement trail on the screen. More or less the same that happens with some LCD monitor. But I have to confess that, maybe, it is my fault because I immediately see the CGI also in the more modern 2D movie. A reason why I still prefer old '80s movies where backgrounds, spacecrafts and so on, were made by pictures or toy model. 
They were unreal so I easily accepted them. It happens the same with make-up and hair-dying: “natural” ones disturb me more than the shameless flashy colourful.

Well... this behaviour is not so strange: 
Psychologists and robot engineers know very well the problem, face it with the Turing Test and develop the theory of the Uncanny Valley.

L'ipotesi iniziale di Masahiro Mori sostiene che come l'aspetto di un robot si fa più umano, le reazioni emozionali degli osservatori umani nei loro confronti divengono esponenzialmente positive ed empatiche. Ma fino a un certo punto, dopo il quale la risposta diventa improvvisamente di forte repulsione.
Questo è il motivo per cui preferireste parlare a un robot (o solo l'idea di farlo: pensate ai Transformers o a KITT di Supercar o a C1-P8 di Guerre Stellari o, ancora, all'astronave di Navigator) che con un androide come i giapponesi Actroid della Kokoro Dreams (come i modelli ReplieeQ1) o l'HRP-4C della AIST, il progetto Aiko della canadese Le Trung o la Koreana EveR-1.
Masahiro Mori's original hypothesis states that as the appearance of a robot is made more human, some human observer's emotional response to the robot will become increasingly positive and empathic, until a point is reached beyond which the response quickly becomes that of strong revulsion.
That's the reason why you would prefer to talk with a robot (or just the idea of do it: let's think about the Transformers or Knight Rider's KITT or the Star Wars' R2-D2 or the Navigator's spaceship) that with androids like the Japanese Actroid's serie of the Kokoro Dreams (like the model ReplieeQ1) or the HRP-4C by AIST, the Project Aiko by the Canadian Le Trung or the Korean EveR-1.

Ma tornando all'articolo (meno male che non avevo tempo...)
Capitan Harlock. L'ho visto solo 3 mesi dopo ed era davvero carino. Diverso dal manga e dal cartone originale ma caruccio: potevo tollerare le differenze e le grandi omissioni (dove sono gli alieni-Mazone?).
A parte il mantello di pelle nera: pesante, irrealistico...  il mantello di lana di Neo in Matrix è più figo e si muove meglio.
Ovviamente hanno dovuto condensare decine d'anni di mito in un film di due ore e renderlo attuale. Posso anche accettare i personaggi nuovi e controversi: Yama può essere la versione aggiornata di Tadashi Daio mentre Ezra può essere considerato il nuovo Mitsuru Kirita.
Tadashi Daio era il figlio dello scienziato amico di Harlock, Tsuyoshi, e, come Yama, era giovane e presentava allo spettatore il mondo dell'Arcadia.
Misturu Kirita era il leader della forza di difesa terrestre e acerrimo nemico di Harlock mentre Ezra è il fratello maggiore di Yama e Prefetto della Flotta che vuole abbattere il pirata ribelle.
C'è solo una cosa che non riesco a digerire: Harlock è un eroe romantico che non avrebbe mai sparato alle spalle di un uomo.
But, back to the article (I said I have no time...)
Captain Harlock. I watched it only 3 month later and it was really nice. Different from the manga and the original anime but nice: I can stand the differences and the big omissions (where are the Mazone aliens?).
Saving the black leather cape: heavy, unrealistic... the one in wool of Neo in The Matrix is more cool and moves itself in a better way.
Of course: they had to concentrate dozens of years of mith into a two hours movie and make it up-to-date. I can also accept the new and controversial characters: Yama could be a new version of Tadashi Daiba while Isola (Ezra) could be a new Mitsuru Kiruda.
Tadashi Daiba was the son of the scientist Harlock's friend, Tsuyoshi, and, as Yama, was young and introduced the watcher to the Arcadia's world.
Mitsuru Kiruda was the leader of Earth's defence force and Harlock's sworn enemy while Isola is the Yama's older brother and Praefectus of the Fleet who want to take down the rebel pirate.
There's only a thing that really disturb me: Harlock is a romantic hero who should never shoot a man in the back!

Le armature delle truppe d'assalto della Gaia Sanction, invece, sono quasi le stesse di quelle delle truppe esplorative imperiali di Guerre Stellari.
Vi ho già detto qualcosa circa i riferimenti che Guerre Stellari ha lasciato nella culutra pop (precisamente circa le armature degli elfi oscuri di Malekith nell'articolo In una galassia lontana lontana) ma, forse, è tempo che scriva un articolo al riguardo e sul perché sia diventato così iconico nonostante fosse nato come film di serie B.
Devo pensarci.
Perché sono abbastanza sicura che il prossimo post sarà sul nuovo film degli X-Men. Non vedo l'ora di vederlo (certo, non QUEL Quicksilver) perché sono i miei supereroi favoriti e perché saranno la mia ricompensa per questo mese di fatiche.

I've already told you something about the references that Star Wars left in the pop culture (specifically about the armor of the Malekith's dark elves in the article In a galaxy far far away) but, maybe, it's time for me to write an article about it and why it became so iconic despite it was born as a B movie.
I have to think about it.
Because I'm quite sure that next post will be about the new X-Men movie. I wonder it a lot (not THAT Quicksilver) because they are my favourite superheroes and because it will be my reward for the effort I faced in this month.
